This is the dream of any traveller planning a trip to New York: find a good, cheap hotel! It’s not easy because NYC is a very expensive destination. The average price of a night is more than $200!

Leo House : a great location on 23rd Street
In addition to its great prices, the hotel has another special feature: it has been run by a Catholic institution since it opened in 1889! So don’t be surprised to find a chapel there (you can even attend Mass if you want!). For everything else, it is a very classic hotel.

Chelsea is also a very pleasant neighbourhood: ideally located in Manhattan and family-friendly. All around the hotel, 23rd Street is full of shops, bars and restaurants ready to welcome you all day long and during the evening!
The rooms at Leo House : clean and comfy
The rooms have a very good surface area for New York City: about 215ft2 for double rooms. They all have a space with toilet and sink. Some of them also have a shower so check it out before confirming your reservation! For rooms with shared bathrooms, it will be necessary to go just next door in the corridor: there are 5 or 6 small shower rooms on each floor. But this disadvantage is not really a disadvantage: we finally share the bathroom with only one or two bedrooms.
Very important criterion for me: the showers were absolutely impeccable! This was the mandatory condition to consider booking in a hotel with shared bathrooms. The reviews were very encouraging about cleanliness and I was not at all disappointed on that. The bathrooms are carefully cleaned several times a day. We have also never met anyone (other than cleaning women) on the way to and from the showers, and we have never had to wait our turn. In fact, we never really felt like we were sharing the shower with somebody.
One last piece of advice for future travellers who have a light sleep: the rooms overlooking 23rd Street are quite noisy (which is common in New York City). When you book, you can ask for a room located at the back of the building, on the courtyard side. Otherwise, the hotel provides earplugs.
Leo House : amazing prices for a NYC hotel
Due to its attractive prices, Leo house is often sold out several months in advance! So, if you want to book there, you have to make sure that the trip is not too close. With any luck, you can sometimes find a room available for a night at the last minute but this is not guaranteed. In any case, I advise you to make your reservation well in advance! At Leo House, rates start from $120 per night for double rooms, which is very advantageous compared to the average price of a night in NYC ($200)! Of course, rates increase during the high tourist season as in all other hotels in New York City.
